Summary

Within the social housing strategies, the theme of the renovation of the historicalbuildings represents a new challenge, both for its morphological characters that improvethe indoor climate, than for the reduction of consumption of soil. The case study is located in Nule, Sassari, Italy, (650 m above the sea level, climatic zone E, 2151 gradi giorno); the building is situated within the old town centre, and has been included into the cultural heritage. The building structure (1939) is by granite (width 60 cm); the shape of the building is “palazzetto su filo strada” with 3 floors. Inside there are 2 apartments, one on the ground floor and the other one on the second and on the third floor. The retrofit design of the building is aimed at the refurbishment of the envelope and at the installation of a heat pumps system; referring to the first theme we insert beyond the granite a thermal insulation made by local sheep wool, in order to obtain these thermal characteristics: K=0,30 W/(m2K) Mass=1514 kg/m2 Acoustic insulation = 79 dB The plant equipment is by an inverter controlled heat pump air-to-liquid with fan radiators with radiant panel, equipped by electrothermal valves that improve the indoor climate; the heat pump also produce domestic hot water. The project is aimed at the valorization of the historical building, specifically referring at energy performance of the envelope within the indoor environmental quality, also using low financial resources.
