Summary

A management control system has been marketed for complex refrigeration and related systems such as those in a supermarket. A "supervisor" unit is located in an occupied office. Sensors measure any variable feed to this unit which is primarily an alarm system. If linked to a personal computer, a fault area can be shown on a screen simulation of the entire supermarket. By touching the screen the fault location can be enlarged and the error named. Every alarm is recorded and the time of clearance noted together with details of the past 100 alarms. Remote alarm indicators can be installed at a manager's home or elsewhere. Remote resetting is possible, also the initiation of defrost, lighting control or any other variable. Claims of a 30% saving in energy costs are made. D.W.H.
