The technology of high efficiency R134a two-stage centrifugal compressor and chiller.
Author(s) : LIU C. C., CHIANG C. P., CHIANG H. C., et al.
Summary
This paper introduces the technology development of a two-stage R134a centrifugal compressor and its chiller system in Taiwan. The design for improving compressor or chiller efficiency in a broad operation range is illustrated. For the compressor, its theoretical performance, capacity regulation mechanisms, bearings consideration are discussed; and for the chiller system, refrigerant expansion devices, lubricant system, motor cooling system, surge control strategy are explained. The energy efficiency of prototype centrifugal chiller has reached up to a COP of 6.7 (0.53 kW/RT) outperforming many products in the market.
