Second law analysis of various double-effect lithium bromide/water absorption chillers.

Author(s) : LEE S. F., SHERIF S. A.

Summary

Various configurations of double-effect lithium bromide/water absorption chillers were analyzed and compared on the basis of the first and second laws of thermodynamics. These absorption chillers include parallel-flow, series-flow, and dual-loop flow type systems. Simulation of these systems was employed first to investigate the first law performances, while the properties, entropy, and exergy of the working fluids were also calculated to examine the second law efficiencies under different operating conditions.
