Summary

EQUATIONS ARE OBTAINED WHICH PERMIT CALCULATION OF THE RADIATIVE-CONDUCTIVE HEAT TRANSFER IN MULTILAYER INSULATION TAKING INTO ACCOUNT SCATTERING AND ABSORBING CHARACTERISTICS OF SPACERS. A SPECIAL PROCEDURE IS DEVELOPED TO CHECK THE THEORETICAL RELATIONS. EXPERIMENTAL DATA ARE OBTAINED CONFIRMING THE POSSIBILITY OF ENHANCING THE RELATIVE HEAT TRANSFER IN MULTILAYER INSULATION DURING THE TRANSITION FROM SCATTERING SPACERS TO ABSORBING ONES WHILE INCREASING THEIR CONTACT WITH SHIELDS.
