Theoretical model for GM type orifice pulse tube cryocooler.

Summary

In the paper, a theoretical model for analysis of GM (Gifford-McMahon) type orifice of pulse tube cryocooler has been developed. The model includes the calculation of ideal refrigeration power, various losses viz. regenerator losses, heat conduction losses etc. and net refrigeration power for known input of pressure pulse and other parameters. Effect of orifice opening, frequency and pressures on the performance of GM type pulse tube cryocooler is predicted. The results obtained are compared with those available in the literature and are found to be in good qualitative and quantitative agreement. Hence the model developed can be used for the design of a GM type of pulse tube cryocooler.
