Theoretical study on the oil supply system of a linear compressor.

Author(s) : XING L. F., CHANG Y. F.

Summary

The linear compressor has many advantages such as compact, reliable and high efficiency. This kind of compressor has very high potential for being used in various refrigerators. The oil supply system is crucial for the linear compressor, and the conventional lubrication method is not suitable because its piston is driven by a linear motor. In this paper, the oil supply system by making use of the free vibration of its piston is studied theoretically. The dynamic equations of the free piston were established based on analyzing the working principle of the oil supply system. With the solution of these equations, the frequency and displacement of the piston can be obtained. Finally, some design parameters affecting the performance of the oil supply system are discussed, and recommendations for how to design the system are proposed.
