A study on a high-performance linear refrigerator compressor.

Summary
In order to design a high-performance linear refrigerator compressor and optimizing parameters, the mechanical, thermodynamic, electromagnetic and control system model of the compressor driven by moving-magnet linear motor were established. The theoretical and experimental researches were carried out to the key parameters that influenced the operating characteristic and performance of the linear compressor. The results show that the efficiency of linear compressor is correlated with the time of flow, natural frequency, the phase difference between current and piston speed and capacitance. Linear compressor should have the optimal time of flow with different discharge pressure in order to minimize clearance volume. The deviation value of piston equilibrium position is related to the discharge pressure, so the control system should correct top clearance distance to get smaller clearance and higher efficiency. Performance of linear compressor is sensitive to operation frequency, and only in a narrow frequency band has higher efficiency.
