Thermal comfort, IAQ and air distribution analysis in open-space offices with underfloor air distribution.

Author(s) : CORGNATI S. P., PERINO M.

Summary

The authors present the results of a field measurement campaign performed in open-plan office rooms conditioned by an underfloor air distribution (UFAD) system. The main aims of the investigation were: the evaluation of the thermal comfort and air quality at work places, the assessment of the ventilation performance of the HVAC system. The decay tracer gas method used for assessing the ventilation strategy does not make use of air ducts; the applied methodology was suitably adapted to the particular configuration. The authors characterized the performance of the UFAD system in terms of: overall and local air change rates; overall and local ventilation efficiencies; overall and local thermal comfort; overall and local air quality.
