Type of article: Article

Summary

Describes measurements of the thermal comfort of eight female test subjects for a range of ceiling temperatures in a test room simulating a typical chilled ceiling/displacement ventilation office. Finds vertical radiant temperature asymmetry had an insignificant effect on the overall thermal comfort of the seated occupants for a typical range of ceiling temperatures. Concludes that existing guidance regarding toleration of radiant asymmetry is valid for thermal comfort.
