Summary

IN UNPROTECTED FOAM, THE GAS COMPOSITION IN THE CELLS WILL CHANGE THROUGH DIFFUSION PROCESSES AND THIS WILL AFFECT THERMAL INSULATION. A MODEL IS GIVEN THAT CAN RELATE POLYMER PROPERTIES AND GEOMETRIC FACTORS OF THE FOAM TO THE EFFECTIVE DIFFUSION COEFFICIENT. MEASURING METHODS FOR THE MODEL PARAMETERS ARE GIVEN. THE CONSEQUENCES FOR THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY, DIMENSIONAL STABILITY AND THE REMAINING FRACTION OF HIGH MOLECULAR BLOWING AGENTS SOLVED IN WASTE FOAM, WILL BE OUTLINED.
