THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH WAS TO DETERMINE THE THERMAL DILATATION COEFFICIENT OF MONO-AND POLYCRISTALLINE GRAPHITE AT LOW TEMPERATURES. IT WAS THOUGHT THAT THE LACK OF DATA ONTHIS COEFFICIENT FOR THE INTERVAL 4-30 K WAS DUE TO THE WEAK SENSITIVITY OF THE METHODS USED AND TO THE DIFFICULTY IN OBTAINING LONG SAMPLES.
