REPORT SHOWING THE INTEREST OF MODELLING IN THE NON-STATIONARY STATE. THE ALLOWANCE FOR ALL EFFECTS OF NON-STATIONARY THERMAL CONDITIONS (SUCH AS DEPRECIATION AND THE STAGGERING OF THERMAL LOADS IN TIME) IN SOFTWARE NOW AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET PROVIDES OPTIMIZATION IN THE DESIGN AND DIMENSIONING OF BUILDINGS AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS BY SIMULATION. AN EXAMPLE GIVES SOME RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE DESIGN OF A SCHOOL SAVING HEATING ENERGY OBTAINED BYSIMULATION OF INTERMITTENT OCCUPANCY. ANOTHER EXAMPLE CONCERNING THE OPTIMIZATION OF THE DIMENSIONING OF AN AIR HANDLING SYSTEM, EXPLAINS THE GENERAL STRUCTURE OF THE SOFTWARE USED AND SHOWS THE GRAPHICAL ILLUSTRATION OF THE RESULTS OBTAINED BY DIFFERENT SYSTEMS.
