Summary

PRESENTS AN INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF EVAPORATIVE COOLING ON THE THERMAL PERFORMANCE OF A MULTISTOREY BUILDING. THE ANALYTICAL MODEL DEVELOPED USES THE METHOD OF MATRICES FOR THE SOLUTION OF THE HEAT CONDUCTION EQUATION AND IS BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION OF PERIODIC HEAT FLOW. CARRIES OUT NUMERICAL CALCULATIONS FOR A FIVE-STOREY BUILDING CORRESPONDING TO A TYPICAL SUMMER DAY IN DELHI. FINDS THAT ONLY THE TEMPERATURES OF THE TOP TWO STOREYS ARE AFFECTED BY THE EVAPORATIVE COOLING.
