THE CURRENT NATIONAL RULES RELATED TO FIRE PROTECTION OF METAL LIC STRUCTURES ARE RECALLED AND THEIR DEFECTS ARE UNDERLINED: THE FIXING OF A CONVENTIONAL CRITICAL TEMPERATURE OF METAL EXPOSED TO A STANDARDIZED THERMAL STRESS, ADOPTION OF A SPECIFIED THERMAL TRANSFER MODEL AND CALCULATION PROGRAMMES FOR STRUCTURAL HEATING. IT WOULD BE NECESSARY TO DEVELOP METHODS AND TECHNIQUES FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE THERMOPHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROTECTION PRODUCTS, FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF THE HEAT FLUX EXPERIENCED AND FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE TRANSFER FUNCTION OF THE PROTECTION-STEELWORK PAIR.
