FEW THERMO-ECONOMIC ANALYSES HAVE BEEN APPLIED TO SORPTION MACHINES. A DETAILED THERMO-ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF A CONCEPT OR AN EXISTING MACHINE STARTS WITH LOOKING FOR AND CALCULATION OF LOSSES WITH REGARD TO THE SECOND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS. WHEN THESE LOSSES ARE EXPRESSED IN COSTS AND COMBINED WITH INVESTMENT COSTS THE PRIORITY AND MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE COSTS FOR OPTIMIZATION CAN BE ESTABLISHED. A DETAILED EXAMPLE OF SUCH AN ANALYSIS FOR A 6 MEGAWATT HEAT TRANSFORMER INSTALLED AT DELAMINE BV (DELFZIJL) IS PRESENTED.
