Thermodynamic analysis of a two stage activated charcoal nitrogen adsorption cryocooler.

Summary

Software developed for a quantitative analysis of the effect of packing density (400-1200 kg/m3) on the specific power of a single stage adsorption cryocooler was adopted to study a two-stage thermal compression system. It was observed that the effect of packing density in a two-stage system is less pronounced than in the case of a single-stage system. For a 117.5 K cooler the specific power changes only marginally. However, for an 80 K cooler there is an appreciable reduction in the specific power.
