Thermodynamic analysis of CO2 transcritical refrigeration with expander cycle.

Author(s) : LIU C., XIE Y., SUN G., et al.

Summary

As a natural working fluid, CO2 is receiving more and more attention. The key goal of research of CO2 transcritical cycle is to improve the COP of the system so that it is competitive with present conventional systems. In order to lower the throttling losses in the CO2 transcritical cycle, the significant measure is to replace the throttling valve by an expander. A thermodynamic analysis on a CO2 transcritical refrigeration cycle with an expander is carried out in this paper. The major factors affecting the coefficient of performance of a CO2 transcritical refrigeration cycle with an expander, such as the compressor exhaust pressure, the outlet temperature of gas cooler, and the efficiencies of compressor and expander, are analyzed.
