Thermodynamic analysis of refrigerating plants equipped with a cold-storage device.

Summary
A method of comparative thermodynamic analysis of such plants is presented. An analysis of the efficiency of plants using different storage substances was done, using the exergetic method. The relationship of the exergetic efficiency of different substances (brine, water, water ice, eutectic ice, hydrates and organic liquids) to the cooling temperature, to the temperature difference in the heat exchanger, and to the ambient temperature was studied. The results obtained demonstrate the advantages of using hydrates in air-conditioning installations operating at positive temperatures. C.C.
