Thermoeconomical problems regarding the single- or two-phase plate heat exchangers design.

Summary

In the last years, the classical heat exchangers used in refrigeration began to be replaced by modern ones (compact heat exchangers), characterized by high thermal efficiency, reduced dimensions, easy installation, high reliability. Among them, the plate heat exchangers are widely used. In the paper, the numerical modelling of single- and two-phase plate heat exchangers is analyzed, and the Hottinger method is used in order to determinate the optimal circulating velocity of the main thermodynamical fluid.
