AN EXPERIMENTAL BUILDING WAS ERECTED IN THE NORTH ITALIAN PLAIN TO EXAMINE THE USEFULNESS OF SOLAR HEAT. CAREFULLY MONITORED TESTS ON IDENTICAL APARTMENTS SHOWED THAT RENTING TENANTS HAD NO INCENTIVE TO SAVE FUEL, WHILE OWNERS MADE THE EFFORT TO UNDERSTAND THE ADVANTAGES OF THE INSTALLATIONS, AND USED 34% LESS FUEL.
