Summary

THE PURPOSE OF THE PAPER IS TO DETERMINE THE LOCAL EXCHANGE COEFFICIENT ALONG A SMALL CYLINDRICAL FIN LOCATED INA PLATE EXCHANGER. THE AUTHORS PRESENT A UNIQUE TRANSIENT MEASURING PROCEDURE. A VERY THIN METAL RING PLACED ON A FIN MADE OF AN INSULATING MATERIAL IS SUBJECTED TO A BRIEF CURRENT CHARGE. THE ANALYSIS OF THE TEMPERATURE CHANGE IN THE RING MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO IDENTIFY THE EXCHANGE COEFFICIENT BY COMPARING THE TEST THERMOGRAPH TO A THERMOKINETIC MODEL. THE AUTHORS VALIDATE THE MODEL ON AN INFINITE FIN AND GIVE THE RESULTS OBTAINED IN A HEAT EXCHANGER HAVING A CONFIGURATION WITH A SINGLE FIN ON A SMOOTH PLATE AND A FIN POSITIONED ON THE FINNED PLATE.
