Transient simulation tool for refrigeration systems.

Summary

This paper introduces a transient simulation tool used to design and analyze refrigerators and automotive climate control systems using vapour compression cycles. The simulation tool is capable of quickly and accurately modelling single evaporator systems as well as two series and two parallel evaporator models. The tool has built in independent cabinet models for household refrigerators, display cabinets and automotive cabins. In this tool, components are modelled as single units by applying mass and energy conservation laws. Each component converges separately and the convergence of the system is satisfied when the convergence of each component is ensured together with system energy and mass balances. The simulation time is over ten times shorter than real time. Standardized component model communication and object oriented programming techniques are used for the flexibility of the modelling capabilities and a detailed graphical user interface was developed for the convenience of users. The tool is verified using experimental data.
