Summary
THE GROWTH IN THE WORLDPOPULATION AND THE NEED TO ENSURE ADEQUATE AND REGULAR FOOD SUPPLIES NECESSITATES THE EXPANSION OF EXISTING FOOD CHAINS AND THE ORGANIZATION OF NEW ONES. LONG-DISTANCE RAIL TRANSPORT IS BEGINNING TO PLAY A LARGER ROLE IN THE REFRIGERATEDHAULAGE OF PERISHABLES. THE DESIGN OF MODERN REFRIGERATED RAIL WAGONS MUST BE BASED UPON FREIGHT REQUIREMENTS, CLIMATIC CONDITIONS AND GOODS TURNOVER. FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS ARE OUTLINED.
