Summary
For the last two years the HVAC&R industry suffered from worldwide recession. In this year, however, the situation changes. The economic recovery in the USA is remarkable. Japan is finding a sign of partial recovery. Moreover, the East Asian countries have been steadily progressing with an annual growth rate of GDP at 5-15% depending on the countries and years. The summer of 1994 was excellent time for all traders. The unprecedentedly intense heat in the Northern hemisphere has created acute demands on air conditioning equipment, thus many vendors enjoyed large volume sales. In the report, general trends of large air-conditioning equipment, focusing mainly on various types of chillers (with special mention of absorption chillers) and also on multiple air conditioners for commercial buildings, etc., are reported: Japanese air conditioning equipment for buildings; the chiller industry in the USA and in Europe; trend of large chiller sales in Asian countries.
