Summary

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF HEAT TRANSFER BY NATURAL CONVECTION OF HELIUM BETWEEN HORIZONTAL ISOTHERMAL CONCENTRIC CYLINDERS AT CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURES IS PERFORMED. OVERALL HEAT TRANSFER RATES, PROFILES OF THE TIME-AVERAGED TEMPERATURE, AND TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATIONS ARE MEASURED FOR RAYLEIGH NUMBERS OF 8 MILLIONS-2 MILLIARDS AND FOR EXPANSION NUMBERS OF 0. 25-1.0. AN EQUATION IS PRESENTED WHICH CORRELATES THE HEAT TRANSFER DATA BASED ON THE INNER-AND OUTER-CYLINDER DIAMETERS.
