Summary

Absorption and desorption of ammonia-water solution is under study in order to optimize the design of the heat exchangers contained in compression-resorption heat pumps. This paper investigates the pressure drop of ammonia-water two-phase flow in mini-channels heat exchangers. Experiments were performed to measure two-phase pressure drop in a vertical mini-channels with inner diameter of 2 mm and 0.8 m length. The experimental pressure drop is compared with some existing pressure drop correlations. The suitability of previously published correlations for prediction of pressure drop in mini-channels during absorption and desorption is evaluated. All the prediction methods considered overpredict the present ammonia-water data.
