Summary

THANKS TO THE INTRODUCTION OF THE< DELTA COEFFICIENT > (NEWLY PROPOSED), THE (DIFFERENTIAL) EQUATIONS OF THE ONE-DIMENSIONAL UNSTEADY MECHANICS OF PURE FLUIDS CAN BE FORMULATED IN A UNIQUE WAY, INDEPENDENTLY OF THE FORM THAT THE FLUID CAN TAKE: THAT OF A REAL (OR PERFECT) GAS, OF A HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURE LIQUID/VAPOUR, OR OF A LIQUID. FROM A THERMODYNAMIC POINT OF VIEW, THIS RIGOROUS APPROACH TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE COMPRESSIBILITY OF THE LIQUID, AND CONSIDERS THE VAPOUR AS A REAL GAS, WHICH IS ESSENTIAL WHEN THE TOTAL TEMPERATURE/CRITICAL TEMPERATURE VALUE IS CLOSE TO 1.
