Upgrading of industrial thermal effluents. Exergetic, entropic and economic analysis. Doctoral dissertation.

Revalorisation des effluents thermiques industriels. Analyse exergétique, entropique et économique. Thèse de doctorat.

Author(s) : OLIVEIRA S. de Jr

Type of monograph: Doctoral thesis

Summary

The author presents an exergetic, entropic and economic analysis of the upgrading of industrial waste heat by means of pure absorption and hybrid absorption-compression heat tranformers and refrigeration systems. In the first part, he presents an entropic and exergetic analysis of the heat and mass transfer in separation and mixing processes of a binary mixture. In the second part, he describes new types of turbulence promoters for falling films that induce a transversal mixing effect in the film to assure good wetting conditions for low Reynolds numbers, good heat transfer coefficients and low fabrication costs. In the third part, new types and new structures of heat transformers and refrigeration systems for upgrading industrial waste heat are described. There are two pure absorption systems and two hybrid systems: absorption-compression and absorption-ejecto-compression.
