THE ARTICLE ARGUES THAT WHEREAS PURE REFRIGERANT CYCLES WERE CONSIDERED MORE EFFICIENT IN NATURAL GAS LIQUEFACTION PLANT, IT IS NOW SHOWN THAT MIXED REFRIGERANT CYCLES NOT ONLY MINIMISE INVESTMENT COSTS BUT ALSO OPERATE WITH HIGHER EFFICIENCIES. A TABLE IS SHOWN WHICH SUGGESTS THE MOST SUITABLE MIXTURE TO USE FOR DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS AND PLANT DIAGRAMS INDICATE THE SYSTEMS. EFFICIENCIES AND RELATIVE INVESTMENT COSTS ARE ALSO PUBLISHED.
