IT IS EMPHASIZED THAT RAPID AND EFFICIENT FREEZING ATTAINABLE BY MEANS OF POWERFUL CRYOPROBES IS SAFE. THE AUTHOR COMPARES THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF CRYOSURGERY IN THE TREATMENT OF PATHOLOGICAL ANORECTAL LESIONS, AND SPECIFIES THE THERAPY OF MALIGNANCIES. HE DESCRIBES THE SURGICAL PROCEDURES APPLIED AT THE DEPT. OF SURGERY OF THE LFH-UK IN PRAGUE. A LIST OF PERFORMED OPERATIONS, AND A DESCRIPTION OF TYPICAL CASES AND RESULTS ACHIEVED ARE PRESENTED.
