USE OF HEAT PUMPS AS EMERGENCY HEAT SOURCES IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS.

Summary

FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING OF A THEATRE, THE INCLUSION OF ELECTRIC BOILERS WAS SUGGESTED AND THE USE OF THE AIR DISCHARGED BY THE ROOM AND CONDENSATION HEAT. THE BOILERS OPERATE DURING THE NIGHT AT OFF-PEAK RATE. THE CONTROL OF OVERALL HEATING LOADS BY IMPOSING A REDUCTION IN AUXILIARY CONSUMPTIONS PROVIDES THE LOW TEMPERATURE HEAT SOURCE REQUIRED BY THE HEAT PUMP. THE ANALYSIS OF THE LOAD CHART MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE THE LIMITS OF USE OF THE HEAT PUMP AND TO OPTIMISE THE NUMBER OF WATER COOLING UNITS REQUIRED BY AIR CONDITIONING.
