Vapour-liquid equilibrium in the argon-oxygen system.

Summary

An experimental cryogenic apparatus was designed and built to measure low-temperature vapour-liquid equilibrium in the argon-oxygen system. The authors measured data along with literature data from seven different investigators were examined for thermodynamic consistency. On the basis of this analysis, selected data were used to determine temperature-dependent model coefficients from which the equilibrium liquid and vapour mole fractions can be easily calculated at other cryogenic temperatures of interest. The paper discusses the experimental processes of and uncertainties in cryogenic vapour-liquid equilibrium measurements and presents a model for the argon-oxygen equilibrium at low temperatures.
