Summary

Variable speed compressors are used to achieve high energy efficiency in refrigerating systems. However, technological constraints have to be addressed in the design of the compressor and the refrigerating system. In the paper, these constraints are discussed using tests performed at the Centre Energétique et Procédés - Paris (CEP-Paris) and some published works.
