Summary
In central and northern Europe one does not often think of the need for factory cooling. The author discusses the technical requirements in a certain machine construction factory. Eight 8,000 m3/h ventilation units were installed, each with 33 kilowatt refrigerating capacity, or a total of 264 kilowatts. This was augmented with plate heat exchangers equipped for refrigeration recovery, in order to meet the required 280 kilowatt refrigerating capacity. Problems in cooling (eg, condensation formation, drafts) are discussed, along with possible solutions. The computerized monitoring and control system of the entire set-up is described.
