Type of article: Article
Summary
Describes a new theatre to be built at Bedales School, Hampshire, which will use a cooling system made from underground concrete pipes. In the summer, cold air will be driven through them, which will cool the surrounding earth. When auditorium cooling is required, ventilation air will be drawn in through the buried pipes where it will be cooled and then distributed at low level in the auditorium. Presents a schematic section and plan of the earth-cooling systems.
