Vortex and critical currents.

Vortex et courants critiques.

Summary

The existence of a critical current in superconducting materials is strongly influenced by the presence of defects that act as pinning sites for vortices. The setting in motion of these vortices triggers on electric field that lead to dissipation in the material. Describing the vortex network, using flexible arguments makes it possible to make qualitative predictions of this network within a field-temperature diagram. In the presence of surface or volume defects, vortices assume disorderly configurations which markedly modify the static diagram. Through a few experimental results obtained using high and low critical temperatures, the authors highlight certain similarities and behaviour differences between these materials.
