Water film evaporator for air conditioning of buildings.

Author(s) : SABIR H. M., EAMES I. W.

Summary

The experimental results of a direct exchange air heated water evaporator is presented. The evaporator, which has an internal glass fibre wick, was tested at air velocity at 4 m/s and varied evaporator temperatures. It was found to perform reasonably well and achieved a cooling power of up to 282 watts and an average value of 59 W/m2 °C. The internal evaporation, heat transfer coefficient of the evaporator was calculated at 850 W/m2 °C. Further improvements are expected from using finned evaporator tubes.
