IT IS GENERALLY RECOGNIZED THAT SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF SERVICE HOT WATER CAN BE GENERATED FROM OTHERWISE WASTED CONDENSER HEAT BY PROPER APPLICATION OF A DESUPERHEATER TO A RESIDENTIAL HEAT PUMPOR AIR CONDITIONER. THE ACTUAL HEAT RECOVERED IS HIGHLY DEPENDENT ON WATER TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE DESUPERHEATER, STORAGE TANK SIZE TO STORE THE HOT WATER RECOVERED, PIPING, AIR CONDITIONER/HEAT PUMP CAPACITY, AND CLIMATE. THE PAPER SUGGESTS TANK SIZE AND PIPING STRATEGIES FOR SUCH SYSTEMS.
