Summary

A SHORT REVUE OF ESTIMATED RESERVES AS PUBLISHED BY DIFFERENT AUTHORITIES IS GIVEN AS WELL AS THE YEARLY CONSUMPTION RATE. ASSUMING THAT THOSE ESTIMATES MIGHT BE WRONG AND THAT THE REAL RESERVES ARE VERY MUCH LARGER IN REALITY CALCULATION METHODS AND DIAGRAMS INDICATE THE EXPECTED NUMBER OF YEARS TO PASS BEFORE THE LAST DROP IS CONSUMED. WITH AN EXPONENTIAL INCREASE IN THE CONSUMPTION RATE WE WILL BE HEADING FOR A DISASTER. WHEN REALIZING THIS SITUATION THE NEED FOR INTELLIGENT HANDLING OF THE ENERGY RESERVES AVAILABLE WILL BE OBVIOUS AND ANOTHER ARGUMENT FOR INTENSIFIED INTRODUCTION OF HEAT PUMPS.
