ICR2015: Younger than ever!
The 24th International Congress of Refrigeration ended on Saturday, August 22nd proving to be more successful than ever with 1186 conference delegates from 55 countries, 11 tracks and 900 sessions.
Of particular importance was the participation of the next generation of refrigeration professionals, young people from around the globe gathered in Yokohama last week to share and learn from experts in the field of refrigeration.
To highlight the importance of involving younger people in this sector the IIR organized the second “Reception for Students and Young Researchers”, a student speed networking event.
This event, hosted jointly by JSRAE, the Institute of Refrigeration UK and the IIR, welcomed participants comprised of over 30 professors from leading universities and businesses, research departments and 200 eager refrigeration students and researchers. Each young participant prepared at least one key question to ask a world-class industry guests on their research interests.
Likewise during the reception they were able to build their professional network and mix with fellow researchers.
Refrigeration is attracting more and younger researchers motivated by the global need for sustainability, energy efficiency and environmentally safe solutions. With this in mind one can honestly say that the future of refrigeration is in safe hands.
It was also the occasion for the winners of the Young Researchers Prize to receive the Awards as well as the winners of the IIR Best Student Paper competition.
