Algerian air conditioner market in 2015

Algeria’s market scale in 2015 is estimated at about 356,000 units.
Algeria is the largest air conditioner market in Africa but continues to experience political uncertainty. Algeria’s market scale in 2015 is estimated at about 356,000 units.

According to China Customs, imports of air conditioners from China exceeded 570,000 units in 2015, representing a 43% drop from the previous year. Gree, Midea, TCL, and Galanz are major export brands. Many air conditioners are re-exported from Algeria to other countries whose air conditioner markets are in the initial development stage.

Algeria’s location offers geographic advantages when entering other African markets, which is attracting the attention of many manufacturers. Hisense has established a room air conditioner production base in Algeria.
