Briefs: Canberra Airport
Canberra Airport has recently ordered a cutting edge air-conditioning system using waste heat in order to generate heat and cooling which will be installed in December 2007. The heat is recovered from the 1200 kW gas generator that produces electricity for the airport by an absorption chiller system, which means a significant cut in energy expenses and a large reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (a projected 1100 tonnes eq-CO2 per annum). The chiller, constructed by Broad, can use various heat sources and was chosen for its flexibility.
