CaRe Working Group: Discover the Women in Cooling database

This interactive tool compiles data from a comprehensive international survey on women working in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sector, highlighting their inspiring stories.

We are delighted to introduce the “Women in Cooling” database, developed by Mr Zhe Tao, intern at Global Cultural Adventurers. Many thanks to him for his outstanding contribution!

This unique database showcases the inspirational career journeys of 1,306 women working across the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump (RACHP) sector worldwide. Alongside these inspiring stories, the database also sheds light on the ongoing challenges faced by women in the industry.

To better understand the backgrounds, motivations, challenges, and opportunities of women working in RACHP, the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) and UNEP OzonAction launched a global survey in 2022, in cooperation with several partners. The findings were published in the Women in Cooling booklet, which you can access here.

Since then, the survey has since been updated with more responses from North and Latin America, in collaboration with Women in HVACR, ASHRAE, and FAIAR – all founding partners of INWIC (the International Network of Women in Cooling).
