EIA handbook on F-Gas regulation
EIA has released the 2024 F-Gas Regulation Guide to support the implementation of the EU’s F-gas laws, providing key recommendations for a successful transition to HFC-free refrigerants.
EU F-Gas Regulation Handbook 2024: A Step Towards an HFC-Free Future
The EU’s revised F-gas Regulation, effective from March 2024, aims to support decarbonization goals while driving innovation in sectors such as heat pumps, cold chains, and healthcare. Part of the EU Green Deal, it is expected to avoid 500 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2050. The EIA, alongside seven partner organisations, has released the EU F-Gas Regulation Handbook 2024, which outlines key measures and recommendations for manufacturers, installers, end-users, and member states to ensure the regulation’s success.
Call for Expanded F-Gas and Alternative Refrigerant Training
The EIA is pushing for broader training and certification programs for the effective use of both HFC and alternative refrigerants. Issues like refrigerant leakage and black-market trade are major concerns addressed in the handbook. The EIA also stresses the importance of strictly enforcing the reduced quotas for fluorinated refrigerants to meet the regulation’s targets. Key recommendations include developing recovery schemes for F-gases and providing financial support for F-gas-free systems.
The handbook has been translated into Romanian, Italian, Spanish and German. It is available on the website of the EIA and in the FRIDOC document database.
