Enhancing dairy sector efficiency through BETTED training
In December 2024, the IIR, Cemafroid, and other partners participated in the pilot training webinar hosted by BETTED, a key milestone in the project’s mission to promote energy efficiency and sustainability in the dairy sector.
On December 17, 2024, the BETTED project hosted a highly comprehensive online pilot training webinar focused on energy efficiency within the dairy sector. The event brought together stakeholders from across Europe to explore innovative solutions and strategies for enhancing energy performance in the industry.
The IIR, represented by André Stumpf, a technical expert from Cemafroid – an IIR corporate member –, participated alongside other BETTED project partners and representatives. The Cemafroid presentation focused on cold chain efficiency, highlighting innovations in efficient refrigeration.

To test, improve, and validate the developed training program, an online pilot workshop was organised on December 17, 2024. Conducted in English, the workshop was based on training materials developed by each partner as part of the BETTED handbook created for the project. The pilot course took the form of a workshop and was structured to last approximately six hours.
Nine members from the industrial associations Federacion Espanola De Industrias De La Alimentacion Y Bebidas (FIAB), Federalimentare Servizi Srl (FEDSERV), and Corinth Chamber of Commerce (CCK) were chosen to actively participate in the pilot (access partners’ websites here). Participants provided feedback through an evaluation template designed to gather insights on the training content, the quality of presentations, and potential areas for improvement. This feedback will be thoroughly analysed and integrated into the training materials to enhance their effectiveness and relevance.

The BETTED project seeks to promote sustainability and energy efficiency in the dairy sector by fostering knowledge sharing, developing innovative tools, and supporting policy frameworks.
Within this context, the project aims to develop a training programme on selected topics. The developed training materials and activities will steer all capacity-building efforts, supported by tools and workshops specifically targeting the dairy supply chains identified by the partnership, which will be selected from a variety of dairy products.
