According to the CEREN (Centre for Economic Studies and Research on Energy), energy production in the refrigeration sector accounts for 52 TWh in total annual electric energy consumption: 25 TWh for tertiary use, 17 TWh for domestic use and 10 TWh for industrial use.

Based on these figures, refrigeration (excluding air conditioning) accounts for almost 11% of electricity consumption in France.

The CEREN estimates 16 TWh in potential energy savings in tertiary and industrial sectors with the industrial sector seeing a 40% return in less than 3 years.
