IIR member news: Danfoss inaugurates its new test lab for flammable refrigerants in France

Danfoss inaugurated the new extension of its test lab located in Trevoux, in France. It will enable the company to increase their capacity to test air conditioning and refrigeration compressors containing alternative flammable refrigerants.

Danfoss opened last month its newly extended ATEX lab (ATEX standing for Explosive Atmosphere). Now six times its original surface, this lab is now the largest in Europe with 3,000 m2. It is located in Trevoux, near Lyon, in France.

The safety of flammable refrigerants will be tested in this facility. The ATEX lab will be focused on compressor reliability and performance and will help Danfoss replicate a full range of tests with A3 (hydrocarbons) and A2L class refrigerants.

Two teams can work in the facility (day and night). 50 test benches have been installed. They are capable of testing compressors from 1.8 to 210 kW and parallel compressors from 1.8 to 850 kW per circuit.
