IIR Member news: New Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan R290 heat pumps for residential use
The new Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan R290 heat pumps provide higher capacities for residential heating, using propane as a low-GWP refrigerant and operating efficiently in low temperatures.
Mitsubishi Electric has expanded its Ecodan R290 heat pump series with three new models, designed to offer an efficient and sustainable heating solution for larger homes and properties. These new models – 8.5 kW, 10 kW, and 12 kW – provide flow temperatures of up to 75°C, making them suitable for properties that cannot undergo major upgrades or insulation improvements.
The Ecodan range, which already included 5 kW and 6 kW models, now features a broader selection, all powered by propane (R290), a refrigerant with a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 0.02. These units can operate efficiently even in temperatures as low as -25°C, ensuring reliable heating year-round.
Manufactured in the UK, the new models are fully compatible with existing microbore pipework, allowing homeowners to transition to renewable heating without significant changes to their existing systems. Additionally, they are compatible with all Ecodan cylinders, ensuring flexibility for both new installations and system upgrades.
The new range is also equipped with Mitsubishi Electric’s latest Flow Temperature Controller – 7 and MELCloud connectivity, allowing homeowners to manage their heating with ease, optimise comfort, and improve efficiency.
This expanded range of Ecodan R290 heat pumps continues Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment to sustainability, delivering environmentally friendly solutions that reduce carbon emissions while maintaining high performance.
