International events: Tokyo

Cryomedicine - Constant Progress in Cryomedicine, an IIR-co-sponsored event, was held in Tokyo, Japan, on November 27-29, 2009. It attracted 180 attendees from 8 countries and 40 papers were presented. Three prizes were awarded: Dr Nikolai Korpan received the Gold Award 2009 for his work on cryosurgery, Dr Lizhi Niu and Dr Tubitak Marmara received Japan Society for Low-Temperature Medicine awards for their work on cryosurgical treatment of pancreatic cancer and generation of antibody-producing hybrid cells from spleen and lymph nodes cryopreserved as whole organs respectively.
